Our 2025 Priorities

Strengthen The Foundations

This year, we strengthened the core work that keeps our organization sustainable for the long haul. We approved X character-based loans totaling over $X million, along with real estate loans that help business owners build lasting wealth. We also supported our tenants across five properties, focusing on a stable foundation for both our community and our organization’s future.

Lead As An Innovator

We stayed ahead of the curve by expanding how we train and support entrepreneurs. Through Plan It!, we trained X entrepreneurs, while delivering 3,500 hours of culturally responsive technical assistance, including innovative programs like Mindset Reset and Money Matters! that pair business coaching with mental wellness support.

Deliver on PROMISE Act

This year we launched our second round of funding, getting over $20 million out the door to eligible neighborhoods. With innovative outreach and engagement strategies now in place, we’re on track to release all funding by 2027, turning a major public investment into real, on-the-ground impact for the communities that need it most.

Holistic Support – Nature’s Syrup

De’Vonna Pittman’s journey with NDC illustrates the power of holistic entrepreneur support. Over several years, she engaged with multiple NDC programs—including training, lending, business coaching, and financial planning assistance—as her company grew from kitchen-crafted products to a nationally recognized beauty brand. NDC’s integrated approach helped her access the capital, expertise, and connections needed at each stage of growth. Today, her impact extends beyond business success to youth entrepreneurship, community programming, and industry leadership, demonstrating how investing in the whole entrepreneur creates benefits that reach far beyond a single business.

Innovation – Clean Energy Loans

When four siblings set out to reopen a laundromat in North Minneapolis, NDC saw an opportunity to do more than finance a business. By combining flexible lending with clean-energy financing and connections to technical assistance partners, NDC helped turn a vacant building into SmartFresh Laundry—a modern, energy-efficient neighborhood asset. The project demonstrates how NDC continues to innovate by aligning capital, sustainability, and entrepreneurship to help business owners reduce costs, strengthen operations, and create lasting community impact.
