Frogtown Entrepreneur Center

In 1996, the buildings at 625 University Avenue and 501 North Dale Street were vacant and contributed to the blight that plagued the broader Frogtown neighborhood. Located prominently at the intersection of University and Dale—the gateway to the Frogtown neighborhood—these buildings became a major concern to community residents.

NDC acquired and rehabilitated the buildings in the late 1990s—turning them into an affordable, supportive environment for emerging entrepreneurs. Today, the Frogtown Entrepreneur Center is home to 14 small businesses; 86% are minority owned; 43 % are woman-owned; and 36% are alumni of NDC’s entrepreneur training classes.

The buildings have helped stabilize this important intersection in St. Paul and position it for growth in the future.
