Beyond Our Cities
Sustainable jobs. Neighborhood revitalization. Economic impact.
Our micro-enterprise model for development, training, lending and support could be adaptable in many neighborhoods in any U.S. metropolitan area.
NDC offers a unique model of micro-enterprise development which has resulted in a highly successful track record of achieving impact in diverse, low-income communities. Featuring a calculated hybrid of entrepreneurial training, business lending and business support services, this model could be replicable in many metropolitan areas in the United States.
ProsperUS Detroit
ProsperUS Detroit is a notable adopter of the NDC model. NDC has developed a replicable model that delivers comprehensive entrepreneur services through a hub and spoke model, via community-based partners, to low-income neighborhood entrepreneurs starting or growing their business ideas in their own neighborhood. By doing so, they inspire neighbors and youth to consider a similar path, thereby creating a ripple effect of positive economic impact driven from within each community.
With training and guidance from NDC, ProsperUS has trained more than 200 Detroit entrepreneurs in basic business planning since Fall 2012. Learn more at www.prosperusdetroit.org.
