The Midtown Global Market in South Minneapolis is already a big hit with food lovers. Now you'll have even more flavor options to try with the market adding three new restaurants.
Over the last six years, dozens of restaurants have had the help of the Midtown Global Marketin starting out their business.
"The purpose of the whole project was to bring in small business retail," said Jeff Alexander with Midtown Global Market. "Everybody here is a small business and what you need to do is incubate."
The Market takes start-up restaurants and gives them guidance and financial help through their Mission Fund. Right now they're in the midst of a capital campaign to raise $3.5 million to help out new restaurants.
The of those which will benefit are The Left Handed Cook, Well Seasoned, and El Burrito Mercado. All three are set to open within the next couple of months.
These new restaurants will have the immediate visibility of the 25,000 people who come through Midtown each week. In talking to existing restaurants here, they all say the support helps them fight off that high failure rate new restaurants face.
