GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Vendors from Midtown Global Market joined us in the KARE 11 Kitchen to share some New Years traditions and eats from around the world.
Manny Gonzales of Manny's Tortas shares some traditions from Mexico. One important thing Gonzales expressed was the importance of wearing green, red and white. Green signifies wealth and money. Red is a symbol of good luck and good fortune for love. And white is a symbol health.
Jamal Hashi of Safari Express shared some African/Somali good eats. In East Africa, the New Years celebration lasts for four days. Hashi recommends anyone coming out to Safari Express to try the traditional camel.
And Sibbon Johnson of Café Fin-spang show us some Scandinavian favorites. Johnson says finger foods are a norm at her shop, from small Danish sandwiches to Swedish goodies that wouldn't be complete without herring.
