Building community and neighborhood economies.
Since 1993, Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) has trained over 3,600 entrepreneurs on how to create successful businesses and has financed over $6 million in loans. We’ve provided hundreds of established business owners with loans, provided 23,000 hours of one-on-one business consulting, and re-developed over 150,000 square feet of commercial real estate to help small businesses start and grow.
Over 80% of NDC resources are invested in four neighborhoods identified as having both high-potential and high-need for community development: North Minneapolis (West Broadway), South Minneapolis (Lake Street), St. Paul (University Avenue) and St. Paul's East Side (Payne-Phalen).
Today, more than 400 NDC program participants are in business. The Clearance Rack, a discount clothing store, Rituals, a specialty body product retailer, and Tortilleria La Perla, a tortilla shop generating over $2M in annual sales, all demonstrate the power of NDC and its entrepreneurs bringing great ideas to life.
