NDC Special Projects > Business Resource Center Business Resource Center "Three Paths to Economic Advancement"
The Lake Street Business and Career Center, scheduled to open in February 2005 in the old Antiques Minnesota renovation will give low-income communities of color and recent immigrants a powerful resource to plan and pursue their life dreams. The project is a collaborative effort which brings together three distinct career paths for low- and moderate-income people living in South Minneapolis:
Entrepreneurship classes are ongoing, and will be supplemented by a resource room in the Center furnished with content from all of the partners and the Minneapolis Public Library. Business counselors will be in the office Monday through Friday, as will workforce training and placement counselors from Goodwill Easter Seals, and college admissions counselors from Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Providing the services in relevant languages, right in their own neighborhood, will ensure accessibility for participants, and increase their chances for success.
