Program Expectations
During the Micro Entrepreneur Training Program, you will write
a solid business plan, and increase your business knowledge.
Your business plan is the foundation of your business, and should
address the following:
- a description of your business idea, product, or service;
- biographical information about yourself, including your skills
and experience;
- who your business competition will be;
- what sets your business apart from its competitors;
- ways that you plan to attract customers to your business;
- who your customers will be, e.g., your target market;
- the amount of money you will need to start the business;
- monthly projections of income, expenses and cash flow for the
first two years of business.
During the class you will be collecting a lot of information; therefore,
you must be prepared to write most of your business plan outside of
class.
To build a successful business, you must also have an understanding
of regulations, what steps must be complete before starting the business,
how to get loans and financing for your business, etc. You also need
to how to operate your business once it's going, with particular consideration
for issues such as taxes, personnel, customer service, marketing,
etc.
Following completion of the NDC training: Entrepreneurs who
successfully complete the program, write a business plan and locate
their businesses in target neighborhoods are eligible for NDC's ongoing
